OUR WORKSHOPS

We offer three core workshops, delivered sequentially, designed to help children foster meaningful connections with themselves and others.

Workshop 1

Understanding Our World

Key Themes:

  • Equity and inequality

  • Racism and decolonialism

  • Expanding our perspectives to care for others

  • Creating change in our communities

  • This foundational workshop helps students understand how systems of inequality- such as racism and colonialism, influence relationships and the world around us. Through games and open dialogue, students explore the concepts of power and privilege, while developing skills that will allow them to better empathize with experiences outside of their own. Together, we discuss ways to use our individual power to build respectful, supportive relationships.

    • Supports the Personal and Social Responsibility competency by fostering social awareness and ethical decision-making.

    • Promotes Critical Thinking through exploring systemic inequality and encouraging reflection on power dynamics.

    • Aligns with Communication goals by encouraging respectful dialogue and the creation of inclusive spaces.

Workshop 2

Understanding Ourselves

Key Themes:

  • Breaking down gender-based stereotypes

  • Emotional literacy and self-awareness

  • Setting strong boundaries

  • Mindfulness

  • Building on the foundations of the first session, this workshop tackles consent as a daily practice and challenges harmful stereotypes, particularly around gender. Through interactive activities, students gain tools to recognize, name, and reject biases, while embracing their unique identities. Discussions on gender identity, expression, and sexuality are woven into the session, creating a space for curiosity and reflection.

    • Enhances Personal and Social Responsibility by promoting inclusivity and understanding diverse identities.

    • Reinforces Health Education outcomes related to consent and respectful relationships.

    • Encourages Critical Thinking by challenging stereotypes and exploring societal norms.

Workshop 3

Understanding Each Other

Key Themes:

  • Non-violent communication strategies

  • Emotional awareness and expression

  • Active listening

  • Apologies and accountability

  • In this culminating workshop, students build emotional literacy and practice naming and expressing feelings using tools like the emotions wheel. Activities focus on identifying personal boundaries, recognizing when they’re crossed, and learning how to assert oneself respectfully. We explore ways to navigate challenging situations, including offering genuine apologies and practicing accountability, ensuring students leave with practical tools for building healthier relationships.

    • Strengthens the Personal and Social Responsibility competency by teaching self-regulation and emotional awareness.

    • Aligns with Communication goals by developing skills for effective and empathetic interaction.

    • Supports Health Education outcomes focused on mental well-being, boundary setting, and respectful communication.
